4 Strategies for Going Back to the Gym after COVID

I love a great workout.

And, with gyms reopening, a lot of people are both excited and nervous, after all the gym is a breeding ground for the COVID-19 virus.

Here are 4 strategies to help you make smart decisions on going back and playing safe in the gym during stage three (COVID-19).

Full disclaimer, you know yourself best and always listen to your gut. Take a couple more weeks off and watch how the integrations goes.

1. Think Germs, AND OBEY!

Research has shown bacteria and viruses on 25% on gym surfaces.

If you are grossed out by this GOOD. Now you will be mindful of them and will do you due diligence in obeying your facilities guidelines and rules.

If this doesn’t gross you out, maybe read this study and realize your sacred gym can be a dangerous place.

Obey the guidelines and rules for sanitation for others and yourself.

2. WASH. SPRAY. WIPE. REPEAT.

COVID-19. Wash your hands. Spray your equipment. Sanitize. Repeat!

This can get annoying by the end of a training session.

Instead of getting lost in a sea of germs on all the pieces of equipment, you can help yourself and thereby help others that share that space.

Be sure to wash your hands before going into any new room of the gym, locker rooms, cardio areas, weight rooms etc. Spray and disinfect each piece of equipment before AND after you touch/use it. Then wipe it down.

Remember, no one wants to sit on a wet surface. Dry it off after with a clean towel.

Next, repeat the process before and after every piece of equipment you touch.

3. Get Spacey Dude.

Social distancing yourself is essential at the gym during COVID-19.

People now more than ever require and want their distance.

The respect of space can go a long way in preventing illness and help to provide everyone with an enjoyable time. Maybe the serial “pick up” gym-goer may actually stop annoying you.

Ah, one can only hope!

4. Educate Yourself. COVID-19 Style.

Educate Yourself on current COVID-19 policies and procedures.

Much like with number 1, if you can understand why and how to implement these policies and the guidelines that the facility have put forth then you can help create safety. Also, you can even come up with a couple of innovative ways to social distance, stay clean and safe.
